Rosalie Hall
provides a range of unique programs and services to address
the needs of young women during their
pregnancies, through
childbirth, and in caring for their infants and young
children.
Medical Services:
Rosalie Hall is connected to Montefiore Medical Center, which lends access to 24-hour medical services. A
staff nurse is dedicated exclusively to meet the needs of
Rosalie Hall residents, providing guidance and education, as
well as coordination of medical care for everything from
Prenatal OB/GYN services to dental and vision.

Substance Abuse Services:
Rosalie Hall has merged efforts with
Montefiore
Medical Center
Substance Abuse Clinic in order to provide substance abuse
services to the residents. Substance Abuse Awareness groups
are held twice a week in the residence by a Credentialed
Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). These groups
promote abstinence during and after pregnancy, and also help
residents to cope with the way that substance abuse
in the family and community have influenced their lives. Individual services are offered as needed.

Residential Living:
Young women thrive in a group setting where they enjoy
their independence yet feel the warmth and camaraderie of
other young women and a caring staff. Residents learn an
incentive system where rewards are earned for full
participation in the program, completing chores, and working
on projects that benefit everyone at Rosalie Hall. Because
living in a group setting with other young pregnant women can
be difficult, there are weekly Conflict Resolution Groups.
These groups focus on resolving issues between residents in an
appropriate manor, and give the young women a safe space to
voice any complaints or problems that they may be having in
the residence.
Rosalie Hall encourages residents to get
involved in recreational activities such as:
| -Movie Nights |
| -Tea Parties |
| -Arts and Crafts |
| -Picnics |
| -Holiday Celebrations |
| -Outings |
| -Making items for their babies, such as crocheted blankets,
frames, etc. |
|
-Recreation for cooking classes |

Prenatal Classes:
Young women receive step-by-step instruction on preparing
for a safe, healthy delivery, and caring for their own
nutrition and health to ensure a successful outcome.

Parenting Classes
Raising a child is the most important job in the
world. At Rosalie Hall, young women are given opportunities to
learn important parenting skills. A unique curriculum has
been created by our parenting teacher in order to address the
needs of our specific population. It is presented to enhance
the skills and tools needed to raise their child. Skills
include caring for a newborn, feeding, bathing, bonding, and
information on development from an infant to a toddler.
Discussions touch on appropriate discipline, boundaries, and
limit-setting as well as learning, bonding and having fun.

Counseling Services
Preparing for motherhood requires a lot of support. Young
women receive it at Rosalie Hall, with counseling programs
that address virtually every need.
| • Two social workers are
on-site to help young women to provide supportive
counseling to each resident, as well as to create a
discharge plan for mother and baby. |
| •
Therapeutic Services are also available to young women
in need, including psychiatric and psychological
evaluations and care. Individual therapy is available to
help the young women resolve problems and overcome
obstacles. |

Support Groups
Support groups are available to help young women to cope
with the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood.
Rosalie Hall does not ignore the role of
the father in pregnancy and child-rearing. Fathers are
welcome in to visit and be involved in the planning for the
child. Referrals are made to agencies that educate young
fathers.

Vocational Counseling
Counseling is available to help transition young women
into the workforce. They meet with counselors to determine
work skills, to develop new skills to compete in the
workforce, and to secure meaningful, lasting employment
consistent with their goals and aspirations.
Rosalie Hall also educates their
residents in ways to develop the person they want to become
once they leave Rosalie Hall. These Independent Living Skills
Classes include a wide range of topics, touching on everything
from College Preparation and Budgeting to Housing and HIV
Prevention.

Educational Program
There
is a Department of Education School on-site at Rosalie Hall.
Board of Education-certified
teachers, both in regular and special education create an
individual program for each student, in order to achieve the
most credits toward graduation during their time at Rosalie
Hall. The teacher-to-student ratio is excellent,
affording personalized instruction in a range of subjects,
from general studies to Spanish language classes.

The Mentor’s Group
Successful members of the community are welcomed to
Rosalie Hall to serve as mentors for young pregnant women and
new mothers. Young women meet with mentors to discuss life
ambitions and to design programs and pathways that enable
women to reach their life goals.
